Bud Smith has been associated with SCEI for 33 years. He has been a member of the board of directors for 6 years and has served as the chairman for the last 4 years.

Bud and Peggy were married June 21, 1969. The Smiths have 3 married children and 8 wonderful grandchildren (so far)! Bud’s special interest in athletics has opened some interesting ministry opportunities including serving as chaplain of the New York Jets football team and the Long Island Ducks minor league baseball team.

He received his BA from Wheaton College and his M. Div. and doctoral studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Bud first met Jim and Diane in 1977 through Bob and Sally Angle while pastoring Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Burbank, CA. He moved to Long Island in 1978 and pastored Dix Hills Evangelical Free Church for 27 years. Since October of 2005 he has been serving in the EFCA Pastoral Care Ministries department providing support and assistance to EFCA pastors and staff members
Jim Gove has been associated with SCEI for 44 years.

Jim and his wife Carol are realtors in Sacramento, CA. They have two married sons, Randy and Brent, and one married daughter, Darce. He has been on many SCEI ministries and has been a vital ingredient to our foundation.

In 1966 Jim first served on the board of directors of SCEI and was treasure/bookkeeper. During this time he was working in his families insurance business called Dwight Gove Insurance Agency in Chula Vista, CA. He met Jim Gordon at Scott Memorial Baptist Church (pastored by Tim LaHaye and Art Peters) in San Diego while playing in a weekly men's basketball fellowship that met every Friday.

His experience has helped SCEI keep focused on its mission while at the same time has welcomed in new technology that has and will enhance the productivity of the ministry vision. In 1999 Jim was the acting chairman of the Board of Directors when the co-founder, Jim Gordon, went home to be with the Lord. He has served on the board for a total of 24 years with 11 of those as chairman.
Cathy Garrick has been associated with SCEI for 33 years.

Cathy is a pilot with UPS. She flies around the world in a 747. She lives in Wasilla, AK, but she calls Monteagle, TN home. Cathy was born and raised in Virginia. Her father was a pastor. In college she excelled in sports and music.

She went on her first missions trip with SCEI in 1977 and continued serving with SCEI on five more ministry outreaches. Twenty five years later Cathy reunited with SCEI. She has served on several more ministries to different countries in Latin America. She has played a huge part in fixing up and establishing a efficient work environment at the SCEI campus in Monteagle, TN. Cathy understands the life of a missionary, and she is very wise in her counsel. She is a generous and cheerful supporter and has a strong compassion for the unsaved.
John Gizzio and his family live in the Philadelphia area. He is one of the principles of a specialized insurance adjuster family business called ACE. In 1992 Joe Gizzio, John's younger brother, went on an SCEI Master's Ministry. As a result of this ministry, ACE and the whole Gizzio and Markland families have been a big support.

John and his daughters have gone on several outreaches with SCEI. John became a member of the board of directors in 2007. John brings wisdom in the area of business. He also supports many of the SCEI missionaries and ministries personally and through the Gizzio foundation.
