Steven & Patirica Arce

I was born February 12th, 1979 in Lima Peru. At the age of 4 God called my parents to go to Venezuela as missionaries. Growing up as a MK (missionary kid) I was able to see first hand what it meant to serve God. I was around 4 or 5 when I was told I accepted Christ as my personal Savior. The thing is that I was not sure of that decision. As I grew I got into a lot of things that did not please God. I remember one Sunday morning I was sitting in church and God just started to squeeze my heart more and more, and before I knew it I was on my knees asking God to come into my heart. That Sunday morning at 15 years of age I made sure that when I died I would go to Heaven.

The more I got involved in the ministry the more I felt God calling me into full time service. I remember the very first time I felt God put that desire in my heart. It was the 6th or 7th anniversary at my father's church and for the evening service my father would have all the men that had been called to serve God full time to stand with him on the platform They would all have a part in holding the anniversary cake as we sang happy birthday together. That night as I saw all those men standing together I new then and there that I wanted to be a part of that group of men (serving God full time).  In 1998 I began Bible college. While I was studying I started to date Patricia who is now my wife. Patricia had been coming to church since she was 8, and after a year she got on her knees in her bedroom and asked God to save her. On November 22, 2001, During our last year of Bible college, Patricia and I got married. We graduated in May of 2002. At that time we came to the United States to raise our support in order to go back to Venezuela to serve the Lord there as missionaries. After 2 years we had our first baby, Evan Matthew Arce. He was born on September 22, 2004. I was very happy but wanted to have another one fast. So a year and 3 months later we had Ema Grace Arce on December 24, 2005. At that point in our lives we believed that we were doing exactly what God wanted us to do. We went back to Venezuela where we continued to work for the Lord. As the years went by I started to have a growing desire to become more then what I was. We planned a trip back to the US to seek for God's will for our lives. In February of 2009 we were eating lunch with David Gordon (President of SCEI) and family where I began to share with him my desire to help the Latin American churches to grow in Lord and in the knowledge of His Word. A few months later we were a part of an SCEI board meeting where we were accepted as full time missionaries with SCEI. I now hold the position as Latin American Director, main translator and evangelist for SCEI. I will be directing the followup and discipleship to the Latin American churches and individuals we reach for the Lord on the SCEI ministries.

I praise the Lord for the opportunity He has given me and my family to serve God through SCEI. One example of the most impacting moments for me this year took place during this past Mighty 9 Ministry. We were playing basketball at one of the gyms, and I was all into the game. Rebekah, David’s daughter, comes to me and asks me to go and talk with a few men that had been asking some questions about the tracks we gave everyone. So I went and began to give them the plan of salvation. To my surprise they had never herd about God or of His Son Jesus and how He died on the cross for our sins. I was able to lead a grandfather, father, son and uncle to the Lord. These four men had come down from the mountains of Mexico to look for work and happened to stumble into the gym where we were playing. Isn’t God awesome!
