John & Aimee Gordon

God has just recently called our family, John, Aimee, Leia (2 ½ yrs. old) and Clara (6 wks. new) Gordon into full-time missions. We are humbled and grateful for this amazing opportunity to serve the Lord through SCEI and are praying that we may know Christ more, so that we may make Him more known to all.
Aimee’s Testimony
I was brought up in a wonderful, loving, supportive home. As a child and young adult, I was a very disciplined and committed ballet, modern, jazz and tap dancer, training for 8 hours every day in high school. Dance was what defined me, and it took first place in my life. I poured everything into this art form, because I loved dance and excelled in it. I lived for myself and to please others. I went to church, believed in religion, and was caught up in a trance of tradition and ritual. I never knew of an intimate, personal relationship with God. I generally did what was right and “good” in the world’s eyes to please others. I never questioned or looked deeper into my beliefs of God or even new what I believed.
Then, one day I heard some life changing questions about what I believed, and saw words from the Bible that I had never seen. After pondering those questions and Scripture, I realized that the Truth and God’s Word was not what I had been believing. I soon discovered that God loved me and created me to be in relationship with Him. I also understood that I was a sinner, having broken that communion with God and needed a Savior, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, to be in that right relationship. I discovered the true meaning of the cross and understood God’s unconditional love and mercy and grace and how He forgave me of all my sins, I just needed to ask for His forgiveness and trust in Him. I also realized that dance had become an idol in my life, as I had placed it before God.
Soon after I was asked those life-changing questions, I gave my life to the Lord, and He put a new song in my heart. I no longer live for myself or others, but for the one true God. He has made me new and whole. I have gone through many trials and temptations during my journey in life, but He will never leave me. After losing my mother to cancer, I learned to appreciate every moment of every day as a gift from God and find complete comfort and strength in Him. As I walk through all of life’s circumstances, I trust in the Lord and rest in His unconditional love, grace and perfect plan for my life. He has turned my mourning into dancing! The joy of the Lord is my strength!
God has now led my husband, John, and I and our 2 little girls, Leia (2 ½ yrs.) and Clara (6 wks.), to serve Him as full-time missionaries with SCEI. We are humbled and grateful for this amazing opportunity and are praying that we may know Christ more, so that we may make Him more known to all.
Questions to ponder…
Who or what is an idol in your life?
Who or what is #1?
If you were to die today, what would be on the other side?
If you were to die today, do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you would go to Heaven?
Heaven…I pray that you don’t live life wondering, but live life knowing and believing.
John's Testimony
I grew up in a sports home…not a sports-watching home, but a sports-playing home. I know you are thinking of playing sports outside the house, which is true, we did, but we also played them inside the house too. So, we were truly a sports home. My parents were hard-working, loving, giving, believing Christians, and I was truly blessed to have them as a Godly example, but that did not automatically make me a Christian. I always prayed and talked to God like I was a Christian, but I had never had a transformation of my heart and life, like the Bible says. So one day when I was about 9 years old, I asked my mom how I could become a true believer or get saved. She told me how, and so I confessed my sins and asked God if He would forgive me, for I was unworthy. That day, with faith like a child, God transformed me.
After that day, I lived under my parents until I was 19. I knew how to follow and be a good Christian, but I did not understand the full meaning of what God had placed on my heart, through the knocking of His Holy Spirit. I went through the next 6 years trying to do things on my own might. In the back of my mind, I was always thinking of the Lord and how I could serve Him, but I had not given Him full control in guiding me in every area of my life. It wasn’t until God led me to some key people in my life, who showed me what Truth was all about and how it works throughout our culture, that I was able to grasp a true Biblical worldview and how to portray this. Wow!!! I had been discipled. Now my heart had a new direction, through the Holy Spirit’s guidance and God’s sovereign will in my life.
Since then, I started implementing these views and principles (the mind of Christ) throughout all I was doing. At the time, I owned a real estate investment company. I put everything I had into the business and unbeknownst to me, God was working in a way I had no control over. Yeah baby, the way it should be. God strengthened me through some difficult trials, leading me out of real estate investing, and He laid on my heart to consider full-time missions. Through much prayer and in the Lord’s perfect will and timing, I now have been called into full-time missions with SCEI. I am so excited to see what God is going to do through this organization, and I am even more excited to see what God is going to do through your life. So get up, get out and tell everyone Who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. If you are not a Christian or want to understand more about it, please give me a call and I would love to share how God, through His Son, has changed my life. Please feel free to contact me at

God's preparations and call into the ministry
Thanks to God for His sovereign will, for it is not I who did anything, but Christ who has prepared me for everything that He wants me to face or do. I was a young kid growing up in Florida, and I knew from that God was going to use me somehow for SCEI. I did not know how, but I thought I knew. I thought he was going to have me help out by having lots of money and being a big donor/supporter. His ways are not always our ways, are they?
I grew up going all over the US and the world on short-term missions outreaches, while coming back for school and other activities. Some might say, “I am so sorry for you, always having to pack up and leave your friends and family and go serve,” but I would not give it up for anything. God was preparing me from the very beginning; I just didn’t know it yet. As time went on, my parents put me in every sport you could imagine from the ages of 7-18. Some of the sports were ice hockey, soccer, gymnastics, baseball, football, tennis and golf. I never imagined how God could one day use those athletic gifts as a platform to ultimately reach the lost for our Lord and Savior. God also prepared me with great parents, who not claiming that they knew everything, knew that a good, solid church would help aid in the teaching of their children. It did just that, giving me a firm foundation in my beliefs. This helped as I went into high school. In high school, the Lord had something very special waiting there for me. This has to be by far the biggest reason I am still here today, serving our Lord and Savior. God led me to Harrison School of the Arts, where I had no clue why I was there, except to have fun and to be close to family. I was suppose to be doing tech work but got dragged into the musicals. As a cast member in The Secret Garden, I met this knock-dead gorgeous, red-headed girl named Aimee. The next year we started dating and then wham, we were in love. I knew she was the girl for me, and we married 4 years later. Yes, I married my high schoool sweetheart. We are now blessed with 2 precious girls, Leia and Clara.
After graduating from Palm Beach Atlantic University, I went on to coach men's and women's volleyball, where God jump-started my lessons in leadership. Next, the Lord led me into the business world. First, I worked for a new start-up mortgage company for about a year, and then I started my own real estate investment company. God taught me so many things through my mistakes and successes in the business. Aimee and I chose to let our circumstances grow us into a deeper faith and understanding of our Lord and Savior. God also brought me under some great leadership and business teachings, such as John Maxwell, Art Williams, Wayne Huizenga JR and many more throughout our great community. These experiences led me into great wisdom, which I can now apply to the ministry. God has taught me many leadership skills and has strengthened me through many difficult situations, where it was only by His might that I was brought out of them.
Over time, God has shown me some life-changing Christians, who led me down the path to where His call was for my life. One of the most impactful moments in my life was getting the privilege of going to a great man’s funeral, Dr. James Kennedy. At his funeral, person after person stood up and said amazing testimonies of this true follower of Christ, Dr. James. They spoke of his heart for the lost, Christ-centered life, and impact on the world for His kingdom. The person who gave the message that day was Dr. James Dobson. Dr. Dobson gave a message on understanding the call of God in one’s life and spoke about how many preachers overlook the importance of God’s call. Through this event, I greatly desired to grow deeper in knowledge and understanding of His Word, so I could give every man an answer that asketh. My heart also opened a little more to the idea of being a full-time missionary, and I started to ask the question, “Does God want me to serve Him in the mission field?” I believe that day at Dr. James Kennedy’s funeral, God branded on my heart the call for my family and I to serve Him through this ministry of SCEI.
