The 2010 Mighty 9 softball ministry will be competing in Veracruz, Mexico. Last year the Master's Ministry paved the way to this area of Mexico that SCEI has not been to in many years. Our goal with the Mighty 9 is to follow up the Master's Ministry by supporting Pastor Esau from Veracruz and Pastor Roberto from Poza Rica. We are also excited about the opportunity to share with the Totonaco Indians and the Pemex Union softball players and fans.

What I like most about Veracruz is that it reminds me of what Mexico was like 40 years ago.  The city of Veracruz is a major port city and municipality on the Gulf of Mexico in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Veracruz is known for its rich traditions of music and awesome coffee as you will find out. The metropolitan area is Mexico's 2nd largest on the Gulf coast and an important east coast port. It is located 105 km (65 mi) along Federal Highway 140 from the state capital Xalapa and is the state's most populous city with a population of 444,438 in the city and 512,310 in the municipality.

Poza Rica (formally Poza Rica de Hidalgo) is a city in the Mexican state of Veracruz. Its name means "rich well" because it was a place known for its abundance of oil. It has since been almost completely extracted. This resulted in the decline of oil well exploration and drilling activities, but there are still many oil refineries.
It shares borders with the municipalities of Papantla, Tihuatlán, and Coatzintla, and stands on Federal Highway 180. The archaeological zone of El Tajín is located approximately 15 kilometers (9 mi) from Poza Rica.
